Autumn Garden Landscape Plants, Part II

Wednesday, 7 October 2020

In September I wrote an entry about an interesting landscape that made use of native plants. Just over a week later I made a return visit. Some changes as the season advances, and a few new images.

The asters, nearly luminous, are showing more color but not yet at peak display.

They are nicely combined with the fuzzy gray-green leaves of lamb's ears.

A plant I missed photographing last month was Baptisia,
aptly given the common name of rattlebush. Dried seeds
inside the gray pods clatter like castanets with each breeze.

Most likely these are the blue flowered Baptisia australis. I'll need to return
next year and check it out. It will be worth a visit to see what else is in season.
